The Pride of Northwest is the largest performing ensemble within the band program at Northwest Rankin High School. The marching band is comprised of 130+ students involved in all facets of the band program. The band is under the direction of Ben Burge, Matt McDonald, Lyndsey Bobo, and Jerry Pickering.
The Pride of Northwest performs at all football games, several festivals and competitions, and many events in our community. The band will attend several marching festivals and competitions this fall including: The Oak Grove Marching Band Festival, MS State Marching Evaluations, The Pearl Invitational Competition, and the MS State Marching Band Championships. The band has consistently earned 'Superior' rating in many festivals and competitions throughout the state and region. The band has also traveled extensively, most recently traveling to Chicago, IL to participate in the nationally televised State Street Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This fall the band will present their show 'Minimally Speaking' featuring the music of Richard Saucedo. The music presents melodic motives and mixed meters that weave in and layer upon each other to create a dynamic soundtrack that is fresh and modern. The band will be under the field direction of Drum Majors Rachel Baker and Mason Barnes.
